Pregnancy is an important moment for Mommy, therefore it should be taken care of properly. There are many things to be considered during pregnancy. Besides maintaining the emotions, foods should also be concerned of. Mommy’s food consumption needs to be adjusted with the nutritional needs of pregnant women and pregnancy stages. In each stage of pregnancy, the food consumption will be different.
There are three stages of pregnancy that Mommy will be experiencing. Each stahe is fivided into three trimester. Trimester is the designation for every 3 months of pregnancy. The first trimester starts from the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
First Trimester
In the first trimester, Mommy’s breast will grow and Mommy will also be experiencing morning sickness. In this period, Mommy should consume vitamins and minerals. Mommy should also need to eat foods with high choline. Choline deficiency can lead to pre-term labor and birth defects.
Vitamin B and folic acid are also important. Both substances are useful nutrition to be consumed by pregnant women for the fetus. Fetus will be protected from serious brain disease. Moreover, they also prevent the fetus from complications of spinal diseases.
Second Trimester
In the second trimester, consume more iron and fiber. Mommy will not desire babies with birth defects. Iron can carry oxygen efficiently. Besides, the baby will not get anemia so easily after birth. Iron can be obtained from nuts and eat more spinach, potatoes and mussels.
Third Trimester
At this trimester, consume more calcium because the fetus starts to form its bones. Calcium is essential for bone formation of the fetus. Due to the calcium needs of the fetus, Mommy should drink milk regularly.
It is now clear that nutrition for pregnant women should be completed for the growth and health of the fetus. Try to avoid foods that are not nutritious because Mommy must remember that the health of the fetus is highly dependent on Mommy’s health and food consumption.
